Myanmar Highlight Tour

YANGON - BAGAN - Mt Popa - MANDALAY - INLE LAKE - SITTWE - MRAUK U -
YANGON (10 Days / 9 Nights)

Day 1: Yangon sightseeing
Welcome you at the Yangon international air port. Drive downtown to central post office where you will start your walking tour and walk along the Strand Road, the jetty to observe the ways of life of the people on Yangon River. Then walk in the Pansoedan Street, famous for the most impressive colonial buildings to be found in Yangon. And then to Sule Pagoda, City Hall, the high court, Mahabandola Garden. In the afternoon, visit to Bogyoke( Scott ) market where a lot of food, clothing, handicrafts, and gems stores are located. Visit to the hand made glass blowing factory and explore the natural warehouse. Enjoy the sunset to Shwedagon Pagoda, one of the world's most spectacular monuments. Overnight in Yangon.

Day 2: Yangon - Bagan (by car/flight)
In the morning, fly to Bagan to discover the richest archeological site of Asia with more than 2000 temples and stupas. Sightseeing to the busy local Nyaung-U market, Shwesigon Pagoda, a prototype of later Myanmar to stupas, Htilomilo Temple noted for its plaster carvings, Anada Temple, an architectural masterpiece resembling a Greek cross, Anada Okkyaung, a brick monastery with 18th century mural paintings. After lunch, visit to lacquer ware industry, Manuha Temple, built in Mon style in 1059, Nan Phaya Temple, a unique sandstone monument. Observe the sunset in the vicinity of Bagan's ancient monuments. Overnight in Bagan.

Day 3: Bagan - Mt Popa - Bagan (by car)
Morning visit to Mt. Popa, an extinct volcano with natural forest, which is known as the home of the legendary spirit(Nat). It is like a tropical oasis emerging from the plain. At the top of the mountain, there are monasteries and pagodas and enjoy the panoramic view of the region looking down towards the arid plain in the direction of Bagan. On the way pass through palm tree farms and observe the ways of life of the palm tree climbers. Overnight in Bagan.

Day 4: Bagan - Mandalay (by car/flight)
MANDALAY - AMARAPURA - SAGAING - INNWA - MANDALAY(BY CAR)
Mandalay was the last royal capital of Myanmar where you can still find ancient Burmese tradition. In the morning, fly to Mandalay, Visit to Amarapura, Myanmar's penultimate royal capital, Mahargangaryoni Monastery to observe the way of life of the monks. Sagaing which was an ancient city in the 15th century. Sightseeing includes Kaungmutaw Pagoda, an enormous solid dome shaped pagoda, Ywadaung Village, traditional silver wears village and picturesque Sagaing Hill, a retreat for Buddhist devotees with numerous pagodas and monasteries. Afterward proceed to Amarapura, U-Pein wooden bridge (1.2 km long) to get unforgettable sunset. Enjoy the beautiful sunset from the boat on your back to Mandalay.

Day 5: Mandalay - Heho - Inle lake (by car/flight/boat)
In the morning, transfer to Mandalay international airport to Heho. Transfer to Inle lake. Scenic drive over the hills of the Shan plateau, passing through colorful vegetables farms, mustard and wheat fields, through the countryside of magnificent beauty. Then visit to colorful morning market where one can see several hill tribes selling and buying fresh vegetables and regional products. Visit to Paungdawoo pagoda, Ngaphe Chaung Monastery, silversmith's workshops, traditional weaving industry, blacksmiths and cigar making factory. Overnight in Inle lake.

Day 6: Inle - Heho - Sittwe - Mrauk U (by car/flight/boat)
In the morning, transfer to the Heho Airport to Sittwe, the capital of Rakhine State. Sittwe is a beautiful port town beside the Andaman Sea a couple of hundred years old. It was a British colonial town in the 19th century with some fine colonial mansions but most of them were destroyed during WWII. When you arrive at Sittwe Airport, transfer to the jetty, to Mrauk-U which takes about 5 hours by boat along the Kaladan river, increasing narrow waterway and enjoy the sunset from the boat. You will arrive there in the late evening and transfer to the hotel. Overnight in Mrauk-U.

Day 7: Mrauk-U
Mrauk-U was the last ancient capital Rakhine for 354 years. At it's peak it was a free port trading with Holland, Portugal and Spain. At that time it was comparable to London or Amsterdam. It was one of the richest cities in Asia. Morning sightseeing in Mrauk-U, and ancient capital of Rakhine dynasty. Sightseeing includes Shittaung Temple which was built by using mainly stones, Htauk-kan-thein Temple, Yandanapon stupa which were all built in the Mrauk-U period. Then visit to the old palace site surrounded by ruined walls. Afternoon, visit to the Vesalli, old capital of Rakhine State which is situated 6 miles from Mrauk-U. And proceed to Kyauktaw town to visit the famous Mahamuni Buddha image and drive back to Mrauk-U. Overnight in Mrauk-U.

Day 8: Mrauk-U (Chin Village)
In the morning, take about 1 hour to drive to the jetty. Sailing to Hpapho village takes about 2 and half hours. The river scenery is beautiful due to the mountain ranges and forest. On the way back, explore Chin villages and observe their culture and their way of life of one of the Chin ethnic hill tribes. One of the main attractions are Chin women, who still have traditionally tatooed faces and copper and bronze  ornaments though it is a fast fading custom. Overnight in Mrauk-U.

Day 9: Mrauk-U – Sittwe (by boat)
Morning visit to a colourful mixture traditional local market. After lunch, return to Sittwe by boat. In the evening, visit to light house point and enjoy the sunset. Overnight in Sittwe.

Day 10: Sittwe – Yangon (by flight)
Morning, transfer to Sittwe Airport to Yangon. Overnight in Yangon.
