Putao

To the north of Myitkyina is Putao, the northern end of the Hukawng Valley. The northernmost town of Myanmar, Putao is sometimes called "the switzerland of Myanmar" because of its snowcapped mountains in the background. It is accessible only by air. North of Putao is Mount Hkakaborazi. Standing at 5,889 meters, it is the highest peak in Myanmar and in Southeast Asia.
It is quite interesting and adventurous for hiking and mountaineering. There are waterfalls and streams with icy water flowing rapidly. There you will find plenty of exotic plants and animals. Some of them may still new species to science.
