Inle
lake is fairly,narrow and outrageously pictureque.It is roughly 20km
long and outsanding beauty within its natural surroundings.One of
its many unique feature is the cultivation of floating gardens where
tomatoes, beans and cucumbers grow.It is famous for its leg-rowers
who propel their boats by standing at the stern on one leg and
wrapping the other leg around the oar.The lake is shallow and
crystal clear.Every year, on the eve of the full moon day in October
from this lake with the Shan mountain ranges is held.The Pagoda's
most revered Buddha images are displayed on the grand royal barge
and are taken to several villages around the lake for 18 days.The
famous Inle boat races attract spectators from near and far.The
races provide exciting additional entertainment and are well worth
watching.Both men and women participate in the races with seperate
events for each. |
