Hsipaw
Hsipaw is a charming small town which is situate in the northern
part of Shan state.
Actually it is just a small Shan town which has nice weather,
people, natural scenery. You can get here in 3 hours driving from
Pyinoolwin by car and 5 hours by train. On the way, the most
attractive view is plantation and the viaduct which is called
Gokhteik. It is famous not only because of the pristine river but
also because it is the second highest viaduct in the world. That
bridge was drafted by Sir A. M. Rendel & Co. of London, England and
constructed by the Pennsylvania and Maryland Bridge and Construction
Co. of U.S.A. The background history of Hsipaw is starting from Haw,
Shan palace. In this town, it is very good to have trekking which is
along the Dautthawaddy River, Tinkling River. |
