Myanmar Classical Tour

Combination of Northern and Eastern Myanmar
(Yangon, Putato, Myitkyina, Bamaw, Muse, Thispaw, Pyinoolwin ,
Mandalay, Bagan , Mt. Popa, Pindaya, Inle)

Day 1: Yangon
Welcome you at the Yangon international air port. Drive downtown to central post office where you will start your walking tour and walk along the Strand Road , the jetty to observe the ways of life of the people on Yangon River. Then walk in the Pansoedan Street, famous for the most impressive colonial buildings to be found in Yangon. And then to Sule Pagoda, City Hall, the high court, Mahabandola Garden. In the afternoon, visit to Bogyoke( Scott ) market where a lot of food, clothing, handicrafts, and gems stores are located. Visit to the hand made glass blowing factory and explore the natural warehouse. Enjoy the sunset to Shwedagon Pagoda, one of the world's most spectacular monuments. Overnight in Yangon.

Day 2: Yangon - Putao (by flight )
Fly to Putato and transfer to hotel. Excursion to Mulashidi (1 hour drive). Back to Putato and overnight in Putao.

 
Day 3: Putao
Morning visit to central market and drive to Machanbaw village (2 hours drive) to observe the ways of life of the hill tribe. Sightseeing around Putato. Putao is characterized by subtropical, broadleaf, evergreen forest up to 2000m; temperate, broadleaf rainforest from 2000m to 3000m. And it has green, coniferous and sub-alpine snow forest above 3000m. There is a clear view to the surrounding snowcapped peaks. Sightseeing includes Mulashidi Suspension Bridge which is allowed only on foot, Mulashidin area which is mainly populated by Rawang and some Lisu ethnics. Overnight in Putao.

Day 4: Putao - Myitkyina (by flight)
Fly to Myitkyina. Myitkyina is situated on the northern part of Myanmar bording India and China to the north east. This is the origin of the major rivers with panoramic views. It is famous for MANO feasting festival in January. Fly to Myitkyina then transfer to hotel. Sightseeing in Myintkyina include visit to the Ayeyarwaddy River confluence (2 hours drive) and back. Then take a stroll in the downtown and overnight in Myitkyina.

Day 5: Myitkyina - Bamaw ( by land)
Drive to Bamaw (135 miles, 10 hours drive). On the way, Visit to the central market in the morning then sightseeing into Theindawkyi Pagoda, Shwekyinar Pagoda, hot springs and around the villages. Overnight in Bamaw.

Day 6: Bamaw - Muse (by land)
Morning drive to Muse (10 hours drive). By taking the well known Ledo road explore the way to the rocky mountain region of Kachin State to China. On the way, visit to the villages of Kachin and Shan hill tribes. Overnight in Muse.

Day 7: Muse - Thispaw
Morning drive to Thispaw (6 hours drive). On the way, enjoy the beautiful landscape, nice weather, and visit to the Shan hill tribes villages. Thispaw is a small little charming town with dramatic sunsets. It is a small, quaint town with narrow footpaths snaking through rice paddies. Thispaw was the centre of a small Shan State. There is a small river which is called Daut Hta Waddy winding around the valley and passing through just beside the town. Overnight in Thispaw.

Day 8: Thispaw - Pyinoolwin - Mandalay
Morning drive to Pyinoolwin (3 and half hours drive ). En route observe the Gohteik viaduct. Pyinoolwin sightseeing include Peikchinmyaung natural cave, Pwekauk waterfall, and National Kandawkyi garden. Continue to Mandalay. Overnight in Mandalay.
 

Day 9: Mandalay - Mingun - Mandalay
Morning excursion to Mingun by boat (11km up river ) from Mandalay on the opposite bank of Ayeyarwaddy River. Tour highlights includes the huge unfinished Mingun Pagoda with marble footprint of Buddha, Mingun Bell which weights 90 tons, and Myatheindan Pagoda with seven concentric terraces at the base. In the afternoon, visit to the venerable Mahamuni Pagoda, Myanmar traditional handicraft workshops: marble works and wood carvings, gold-leaf making and tapestry works, Shwe Kyaung (Golden Palace) Monastery, Atumashi (incomparable) Monastery, Kuthotaw Pagoda, a large Buddha Image carved out of a single block of marble. Enjoy the sunset at the Mandalay for a panoramic view of the city. Overnight in Mandalay.

Day 10: Mandalay - Bagan (by flight)
In the morning, fly to Bagan to discover the richest archeological site of Asia with more than 2000 temples and stupas. Sightseeing to the busy local Nyaung-U market, Shwesigon Pagoda, a prototype of later Myanmar to stupas, Htilomilo Temple noted for its plaster carvings, Anada Temple, an architectural masterpiece resembling a Greek cross, Anada Okkyaung, a brick monastery with 18th century mural paintings. After lunch, visit to lacquer ware industry, Manuha Temple, built in Mon style in 1059, Nan Phaya Temple, a unique sandstone monument. Observe the sunset in the vicinity of Bagan's ancient monuments. Overnight in Bagan.

Day 11: Bagan - Mt. Popa - Pindaya
Morning visit to Mt. Popa, an extinct volcano with natural forest, which is known as the home of the legendary spirit(Nat). It is like a tropical oasis emerging from the plain. At the top of the mountain, there are monasteries and pagodas and enjoy the panoramic view of the region looking down towards the arid plain in the direction of Bagan. On the way pass through palm tree farms and observe the ways of life of the palm tree climbers. continue to Pindaya ( 5 hours drive ) Scenic drive over the hills of the Shan plateau, passing through colorful vegetables farms, mustard and wheat fields, through the countryside of magnificent beauty. Overnight in Pindaya.

Day 12: Pindaya - Inle
Morning visit to Pindaya stalactite and stalagmite caves in which countless Buddha images of different types and time exist and a handmade traditional Shan umbrella factory. And then transfer to Inle lake (92km, 2 hours drive ) from Pindaya famous for its unique leg-rowers and scenic beauty. Overnight in Inle lake.

Day 13: Inle - Heho - Yangon (by flight)
Morning visit to colorful market where one can see several hill tribes selling and buying fresh vegetables and regional products. Visit to Paungdawoo Pagoda, Ngaphe Chaung Monastery, silversmith workshops , traditional weaving industry , blacksmiths and cigar making factory, etc. After lunch to Heho Airport to fly to Yangon. Overnight in Yangon.
